Businesses that accept bitcoin as payment for goods and services are seeing a surge in popularity, as consumers have been increasingly demanding goods and service from merchants that accept the cryptocurrency.
According to a report from BitPay, the online payment processor now handles the majority of bitcoin transactions worldwide.
According a report by CoinDesk, more than half of menards ecommerce stores accept bitcoin payments.
In the last 12 months, the company processed $16.7 million in bitcoin transactions.
Amenities at Menards locations have also expanded with the addition of a new gift shop, a coffee shop, and a bar.
It’s unclear if the new business offerings will be limited to the Menards location.
Menards also announced plans to integrate bitcoin payments with its online store, but that the integration won’t be available to consumers.
The company has said it is in the process of integrating the service with its website and in the future.
