MTV News has launched a new app that lets people see what they are being offered on eBay, Amazon and other online stores.
The app is the latest step in an effort to combat the growing online fraud.
Earlier this year, we reported on a report from the UK’s Office for National Statistics that showed a sharp rise in the number of fake products and services offered on online stores since the financial crisis.
The latest figures also show that online retail business grew by almost 50 per cent in the first quarter of 2018, from $6.9bn in the same period a year earlier.
This growth has been driven by the rise of ecommerce companies that accept credit cards and pay customers directly through the online store.
The ecommerce industry has been hit hard by the financial crash and consumer debt crisis, and it has seen sales fall by more than half since the start of the year.
As a result, online retailers have been forced to tighten their belts and find ways to survive, particularly on the mainland, where online shopping has become a major driver of the economy.
